Borrego Springs Sky Art
The City of Borrego Springs California is surrounded by the nearly 600,000 acre Anza-Borrego Desert State Park . That alone is reason enough to visit. While you are here be sure to catch the large metal sculptures of Ricardo Breceda found on the Galleta Meadows Estate and other locations around town. The visit should take you a half day or so and it would not be a waste of your time. Breceda’s homage to grape harvesters and the agricultural heritage of the valley. Breceda’s subjects range from the desert residents to the prehistoric, and the mythological. But they are always interesting. Spanning Borrego Springs Drive is this massive dragon undulating through the sand. It spans some 350 feet from teeth to tail. A short drive away, on the way to Ocotillo, you find another installation and a combination of mythical flying raptors, elephants and wild horses. 7
