McKinney Falls State Park Austin, Texas
The first day of Spring found us in McKinney Falls State Park , located in Austin, Texas. We landed here, following the recommendations of a couple, who's blog we follow. Bluebonnets Our campsite is nestled in a Texas hill country hardwood forrest, in the middle of the Bluebonnet bloom. While located just a half hour outside of downtown Austin, we feel like we are camping in a secluded area. A short drive allows us to put the kayaks on the Colorado (not the REAL Colorado River) River and Lady Bird Johnson Lake. We did a sunset paddle up stream to the Congress Street Bridge to watch the fleet of Bats leave to feed. Seeing it all from the water makes for a unique experience.
