McKinney Falls State Park Austin, Texas

The first day of Spring found us in McKinney Falls State Park, located in Austin, Texas.  We landed here, following the recommendations of a couple, who's blog we follow.

Our campsite is nestled in a Texas hill country hardwood forrest, in the middle of the Bluebonnet bloom.

While located just a half hour outside of downtown Austin, we feel like we are camping in a secluded area.

A short drive allows us to put the kayaks on the Colorado (not the REAL Colorado River) River and  Lady Bird Johnson Lake.  We did a sunset paddle up stream to the Congress Street Bridge to watch the fleet of Bats leave to feed.  Seeing it all from the water makes for a unique experience.
